Entertainment Lineup:

Host: CarLarans

CarLarans is back to host the 2022 Gala after hosting in 2021! Seattle based singer and musician CarLarans stands on the brink of super-stardom with his unique melismatic vocal style, clever and catchy lyrical content, and most notably, his captivating and seductive performances.

A myriad of musical influences from Gospel, to House, to turn-of-the-millennium Hip-Hop and R&B can be heard in his signature sound that has both modern pop and old school flair.

Known affectionately as Daddy Noir (The Royal House of Noir) and a Legend in the Pacific Northwest Kiki Ballroom scene, CarLarans incorporates elements of vogue, runway, and fashion on stage and musically.

His debut studio album RAW HNNY (2019) was heavily lauded by audiences with added praise and promotion from local media giants KEXP and The Seattle Times. His recent projects have been met with further acclaim, solidifying his status as a leading Queer Black tastemaker and artist on the rise.

Headliner: Shaina Shepherd

Known for her pervasive style, a soul-grunge front woman turned piano songstress, Shaina Shepherd’s notable vocal stylings have brought her into various creative spaces — from musical studio collaborations beyond genre, to moving performances across the country, to building community in music and commerce one step at a time. Inspired by the parallels between gospel and garbage metal, Shepherd’s music was lovingly branded “Tina Simone”: combining rock opera theatrics with stony piano laden story telling. Creating in the city where both Pearl Jam and Quincy Jones cut their teeth, Shaina heart songs are steeped in American folk and redefine the Outlaw genre with an infusion of Tina Turner, Dinah Washington and Nina Simone. Shaina’s currently on the road and preparing to record her first body of work. When Shaina isn’t in the studio, she is a community organizer, music educator and event producer in Seattle, WA. Shaina is also a national trustee for the PNW chapter of the Recording Academy (Grammys), a member of multiple boards in the Seattle area and a local advocate for music and the arts on the West Coast.

Special Performance: Christine Dwyer

Christine Dwyer has appeared on Broadway in Wicked (Elphaba) which she also performed on the 2014 Tony Awards as well as representing the United States at the Hannover Messe in Germany performing for President Obama and Chancellor Angela Merkel. National Tours include Waitress (Jenna), Finding Neverland (Sylvia), RENT (Maureen). Other NY/Regional credits include Ragtime (Mother), Murder Ballad (Sara) Studio Theatre, The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, and JCS Live on NBC with John Legend, Sara Bareilles and Alice Cooper. Christine and husband Matt DeAngelis are currently working with voice teacher Noel Smith as the acting coaches for her studio. Love to Family, CLA and HCKR, Matt and of course, dog Chowdah. Drag Perfomance: Charli Foxtail

Charli Foxtail is a drag performer living in the SeaTac area. She is the current reigning Miss Gay Pierce County, and has been performing for about 5 years now. Her drag described in 3 words would be charismatic, eccentric, and ambitious. She loves exploring new things & meeting new people. She has held various official drag titles, helped a lot in the community through fundraising & volunteering, and has broken title records as well as performed in numerous venues across North America.

Special Appearance: Sara Porkalob

Sara Porkalob (she/they) is an award winning artist-activist, cultural worker, and creator of the DRAGON CYCLE, a trilogy of matrilineal musicals about her Filipino American gangster family; one play for each generation built around a central female protagonist. DRAGON LADY premiered at Intiman Theatre and was the recipient of three 2018 Gregory Awards (Outstanding Sound/Music Design, Outstanding Actress in a Musical, Outstanding Musical Production).
