What a great day at rehearsal! Richard and Michael are really rockin’ the house! They are playing off each other with amazing generosity and support. They continue to invent, provoke, stimulate, and delight each other. One of the great things about these guys is how they are enjoying each other and cracking each other up. Clearly they are cracking up my assistant director Lynn, stage managers Wendy and Ryan and I, in new ways every day but when they tickle each other it’s just delightful.
We are into run-thrus now and we will do them every day to keep them exploring and relaxed settling into the rhythms that Dresser has set so strongly, and they are listening to that music with the respect and understanding that there is where the success of it lies. Dresser’s work is so smart so strong and so supple that we need only to supply the heart and let the audience in to experience the journey. And these actors have huge hearts!
Tonight Lisa our Marketing Director, Stephanie our Communications Director and I went to do New York Vinnie’s show on KIRO 710. Vinnie was hilarious and really interested in the play. He asked me all the right questions and told some great stories. He told everyone to subscribe and support INTIMAN, so you can’t ask for more than that. I think the SCORE, sports radio station in
Chicago
should steal him away.
My wife Candy comes tomorrow and I am excited to share

with her. The flowers are starting to bloom and the weather is balmy, and unlike
Chicago
, there is little threat of snow in April and May. Once on May 1st we were driving home to
Cleveland
and it was snowing lightly as we drove East, but by the time we got to
Cleveland
,
Chicago
had 6 inches! She’s gonna love
Seattle
. And she is hooked on Starbuck’s and salmon, it’s a match made in heaven.
I can’t wait for her to see a run thru too. She’s such a great audience and so supportive, and the boys could use a new laugh in the room.
OK, gotta do some wash and change the sheets before she comes.
