Alban Dennis (Mr. Dussel) is very pleased to return to Intiman with this terrific cast. His previous credits here were roles in Cymbeline and Titus Andronicus, both directed by Bartlett Sher. Other Seattle credits include Stop Kiss and Inspecting Carol at Seattle Rep, Gray’s Anatomy and A Christmas Carol at ACT, Pericles at Seattle Shakespeare Company, and roles at Seattle Children’s Theatre, the Village Theatre and the Bathhouse Theatre. Regional credits include the Huntington Theatre (Boston), the Arden Theatre (Philadelphia) and The Kennedy Center. Mr. Dennis is a graduate of the University of Washington’s School of Drama Professional Actor Training Program under Jack Clay.

Lucy DeVito (Anne Frank) is pleased to be working at Intiman. New York theatre: Lucy (Off-Broadway) and Thicker Than Water (both at Ensemble Studio Theatre). Other theatre: Speech and Debate (Brown/Trinity Rep). Film: Speed Grieving, A Quiet Little Marriage, Noble Son, Just Add Water. TV: Dirt, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Ms. DeVito received her BFA from Brown University.

Lindsay Evans (Margot Frank) makes her Intiman debut in The Diary of Anne Frank. She most recently appeared as Belle in A Christmas Carol at ACT. Other regional credits include Theater Schmeater (Miss America...), SecondStory Repertory (Laughter on the 23rd Floor, The Underpants), Downstage Left Theatre (Serenading Louie) and Wing-It Productions. Ms. Evans holds her degree from Western Washington University, and hopes to someday split her time between Seattle and Los Angeles. She extends her deepest thanks to her very generous friends and family, to Charles Waxberg, and to her husband and cheering squad, Chad Evans.

Jim Gall (Mr. Kraler) is thrilled to be making his debut at Intiman. He is a graduate of the University of Washington Professional Actor Training Program under Jack Clay. Most recently he has worked with Book-It Repertory Theatre in Persuasion and Kansas City Rep in A Christmas Carol. Favorite roles to date include Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird at the Village Theatre, Charlemagne in Pippin at 5th Avenue Theatre and Mountain McClintock in Requiem for a Heavyweight at Theater Schmeater (Footlight Awards for best performance and best production). This summer he will play opposite his beautiful wife Kelly Kitchens in the Wooden O Theatre Company’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Carol Roscoe (Miep), a Seattle resident, made her Intiman debut as Mary Dalton in the 2006 world premiere of Native Son. She recently appeared in Persuasion at Book-It Repertory. Other credits include Hamlet (Seattle Shakespeare Company), The Fetch, Point Deception (ACT's First Act Festival), Don Carlos, B.F.E., When Grace Comes In, What I Tell You in Darkness (Seattle Rep’s Hot Type Festival) and several plays at the 14/48 Theater Festival. She is a member of the teaching faculty at Seattle Children’s Theatre and has appeared there in plays including The Devil and Daniel Webster, The Magic City and Shape of a Girl. Regional work includes (Washington, D.C.) Twelfth Night, All’s Well That Ends Well, Dunkler Related Disorders (Kennedy Center), The Book of Ruth, The Duchess of Malfi (Green Highway Theater), 31 Bond Street (Brooklyn Lyceum) and Rocket Man (Arizona Theatre Company). Film: The Gamers: Dorkness Rising and The Dark Horse. When she is not treading the boards, she can often be found directing on them. Training: M.F.A. from the Academy for Classical Acting at the Shakespeare Theatre at George Washington University. Love to Andrew.

Shellie Shulkin (Mrs. Van Daan) is honored to make her Intiman debut. Upon completing her formal acting training in London at The Drama Studio, Ms. Shulkin returned to Seattle to continue her career. Favorite roles include: Edith in Edith Stein, Daisy in Driving Miss Daisy, Amanda Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie, Mai O’Hara in Our Lady of Sligo, Maggie in Big Maggie, Meg in The Birthday Party and Phoebe Reece in The Farnsdale Avenue…A Christmas Carol. Touring credits include Three Viewings, as Virginia Carpolotti, at the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina; readings and performances of Jewish literature with Nextbook in Chicago, Washington, DC and Benaroya Hall; and Fire on the Kitchen Table at Bumbershoot with Seattle Mime Theatre. Ms. Shulkin is a member of Our American Theater Company. “My performances in this play are dedicated to the memory of my Mother. She, more than anyone, provided me with all the colors I paint with.”

Amy Thone (Mrs. Frank) is extremely pleased to return to Intiman with this show. Her last appearance here was in Measure for Measure directed by Libby Appel. She has worked at many theatres in town and is the artistic associate and casting director at the Seattle Shakespeare Company, where she has appeared in Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Comedy of Errors, King Lear and Othello. She is one of the founding members of Seattle’s newest professional theatre, the New Century Theatre Company, and will be appearing in Elmer Rice’s The Adding Machine for that company this fall. Ms. Thone is on the faculty at Freehold Studio, Cornish College and newly at the University of Washington. She is married to actor Hans Altwies and delirious mother to Charlotte and Stella.

Connor Toms (Peter Van Daan) is making his third appearance at Intiman, after performing in The Grapes of Wrath and Richard III (directed by Bart Sher). He has also performed at Seattle Rep (The Chosen), Shakespeare Santa Cruz (Coriolanus, The Merry Wives of Windsor—directed by Sari Ketter), Seattle Shakespeare Company (Cyrano de Bergerac, Richard III), Wooden O Shakespeare (Macbeth), Capitol Hill Arts Center and Theater Schmeater. He most recently played Hamlet at Seattle Children’s Theatre. He is a graduate of Cornish College of the Arts.

Michael Winters (Mr. Van Daan) made his first appearance at Intiman in 1988 in Hard Times and has subsequently appeared in many other productions here including, most recently, Richard III and Heartbreak House. He recently finished a run in Mame at the Fifth Avenue Theatre, has been seen at Seattle Rep in Cider House Rules and A Delicate Balance, and appeared in more than 25 productions at ACT—most recently Stuff Happens—including five plays by Steven Dietz. He has also worked with Book-It, Denver Center Theatre Company, American Conservatory Theatre, Arizona Theatre Company, the Old Globe, Playmakers Rep, Berkeley Rep, Mark Taper Forum, and the Matrix Theatre and Andak Productions in Los Angeles. He spent an extremely brief time on Broadway several years ago, appears occasionally on TV, including a recurring role on Gilmore Girls, and is the grateful recipient of a Fox Fellowship.

Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett (Adaptation) were a husband-and-wife writing team for stage and film. They received the 1956 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for their adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank, and a Writers Guild of America Award for its 1959 film version. They received Academy Award for Screenplay nominations for The Thin Man, After the Thin Man (1936), Father of the Bride (1950) and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1955). They won Writers Guild of America awards for Easter Parade (1949), Father’s Little Dividend (1951) and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954). Their screenplays also include It’s a Wonderful Life (1946).

Sari Ketter (Director) has directed at The Guthrie Theater (The Royal Family, A Christmas Carol); Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Great Lakes Shakespeare and Idaho Shakespeare Festival (The Merry Wives of Windsor); Idaho Shakespeare (The Taming of the Shrew); Portland Stage (The Importance of Being Earnest, Blithe Spirit); History Theatre (Hiding in the Open, In Coya’s House, The Hormel Girls); UMKC/Missouri Rep (Anything to Declare, The Merry Wives of Windsor); Minnesota Orchestra (The Tender Land) and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra (Ariadne), and staged Cabaret Pops concerts for the Minnesota Orchestra; the St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Omaha and Houston Symphonies; and Moore by Four. She was assistant director for Richard III at Intiman and other projects including Steppenwolf’s production of And a Nightingale Sang… (Lincoln Center, also choreographer), Sex and Longing (Lincoln Center), On the Verge, Anteroom (Playwrights Horizons), Two Gentlemen of Verona (Idaho Shakespeare), Hansel and Gretel (Minnesota Opera) and shows at Arena Stage, Hartford Stage, Seattle Rep, Denver Center Theater, Manhattan School of Music, Equity Library Theater and Manhattan Punch Line. She has worked frequently as a director and acting coach at the University of Minnesota. Ms. Ketter was a longtime member of the artistic staff at The Guthrie Theater and assistant director to the late Garland Wright on many productions.  

Nayna Ramey (Scenic Designer) Regional work includes Liliom, Indian Ink and Morning Star at Kansas City Rep; Hamlet and The Comedy of Errors at Shakespeare Santa Cruz; Othello and Amadeus at Texas Shakespeare Festival; 10 seasons at American Players Theatre with designs including The Play’s the Thing, Romeo and Juliet, Cymbeline, Othello, The Tempest, Antony and Cleopatra and Uncle Vanya; Jewtopia, Ethel  Waters: His Eye Is on the Sparrow and Golda’s Balcony at Florida Studio Theatre; My Way and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown at the McKnight Theatre; Tuesdays with Morrie, Noises Off and Pygmalion at Indiana Rep; Snapshots, Hiding in the Open and Main Street at the History Theatre; and more than 60 productions at Chanhassen Theatres including Easter Parade, Grease, West Side Story, Mid-Life! The Crisis Musical, Beauty and the Beast, Anything Goes, Annie, Cats, Big Bang, My Fair Lady and Singin’ in the Rain.

Frances Kenny (Costume Designer) most recently worked at Intiman on the 2006 American Cycle world premiere of Native Son. Some of her favorite past projects have been at Intiman, including Angels in America and The Kentucky Cycle, which also had productions at the Mark Taper Forum, the Kennedy Center and Broadway. Her work has been seen at ACT (The Goat, Enchanted April, Born Yesterday and Miss Witherspoon) and recently at Seattle Rep in Doubt and Twelfth Night. In Seattle, Ms. Kenny has designed extensively with the Pat Graney Dance Company including the Vivian girls, The Faith Trilogy and Vivaldi. Regionally her work has appeared at the La Jolla Playhouse, South Coast Rep, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Denver Center Theatre Company, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Arizona Theatre Company and Honolulu Theatre for Youth. She also designed costumes for The Mandrake Root, written and performed by Lynn Redgrave, which premiered at the Long Wharf Theatre and San Jose Rep. When not doing theatre Ms. Kenny also styles wardrobe for commercials, still shoots and related media.

Marcus Dilliard (Lighting Designer) has designed more than 60 productions at The Guthrie Theater. Other theatre credits include work with Theatre de la Jeune Lune, La Jolla Playhouse, American Repertory Theatre, the  New Victory,  the Athens Festival, the Children’s Theatre Company, Dallas Theater Center, Portland Stage, Open Eye Figure Theatre, Arena Stage, Seattle Rep, the Court Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Berkeley Rep, Huntington Theatre and The Acting Company. Mr. Dilliard has designed for opera companies including Minnesota Opera; Portland Opera; San Diego Opera; The Spoleto Festival, Italy; The Flanders Opera; Opera Company of Philadelphia; Vancouver Opera; Le Opera de Montreal; Opera Pacific; Ordway Music Theatre; Chicago Opera Theater; Canadian Opera Company; Boston Lyric Opera; University of Minnesota Opera and Ordway Center for the Performing Arts. Awards: 2006 and 1998 McKnight Theater Artist Fellowships; 2002 Helen Hayes Award nomination; 2003 Minnesota Arts Board Fellowship; 2005 Ivey Award. Training: M.F.A., Boston University School for the Arts; B.A., Lehigh University. 

Chris R. Walker (Sound Designer) returns to Intiman, where he last designed the American Cycle production of The Grapes of Wrath. He has designed in Seattle at Seattle Rep, ACT, Seattle Children’s Theatre, On the Boards and the Bathhouse Theatre. In California he’s designed at the Old Globe, La Jolla Playhouse, Mark Taper Forum, Geffen Playhouse and the American Conservatory Theater. He spent seven seasons as the resident designer at the American Repertory Theatre in Boston, designing more than 40 productions while there. He has also designed in New York, Houston, Philadelphia, Princeton, Providence, Phoenix and Kansas City, as well as internationally in Singapore, Taiwan and Moscow. In 1997 he won a Dramalogue award for Shlemiel the First at the Geffen in Los Angeles.

Janet Foster, C.S.A. (New York Casting) has worked with Intiman on many productions including the American Cycle productions of To Kill a Mockingbird, Native Son and The Grapes of Wrath. Broadway: The Light in the Piazza, Lennon, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Taking Sides (co-cast). Off-Broadway includes: True Love (Zipper Theater); The Dying Gaul, A Maiden’s Prayer, Dream True: My Life with Vernon Dexter (Vineyard); and Trojan Women, A Love Story (En Garde Arts). Credits at Playwrights Horizons include Fit to Be Tied, Arts & Leisure, Floyd Collins (Obie Award), The Monogamist, A Cheever Evening (Obie Award), Later Life and Police Boys. Regional credits include Dallas Theater Center, Berkeley Rep, Pittsburgh Public, Yale Rep, Prince Music Theater, Goodman, Steppenwolf, American Rep and California Shakespeare Theatre. Film and Television: COSBY, Tracy Ullman Takes On New York, The Deal and Advice from a Caterpillar, all directed by Don Scardino.

Lisa Ann Chernoff (Stage Manager) returns to Intiman, where she recently stage managed Craig Lucas’s Prayer for My Enemy (also Long Wharf Theatre). Other Intiman credits include The Skin of Our Teeth , Richard III, Intimate Apparel, Three Sisters, Singing Forest (also Long Wharf Theatre), Our Town, Homebody/Kabul, The Light in the Piazza, Nora and Arms and the Man. She has worked with The Public Theater (King Lear), ACT (The Pillowman and A Number), Seattle Rep (most recently as the stage manager for Memory House), Shakespeare Santa Cruz and the Hangar Theatre. Earlier this year she worked as an assistant stage manager on the national tour of Monty Python’s Spamalot.
