SYNOPSIS
Forced into hiding during the Holocaust, the German-Jewish teenager Anne Frank, her family and four others spent 25 months during World War II living secretly in an annex of rooms above her father’s office in Amsterdam. Her diary, saved by one of the family’s helpers, Miep Gies, was first published in 1947. Almost immediately, it became a source of inspirationand, in the ensuing decades, of intense controversy, as debate has raged over her universalized image and the dilution of her Jewishness. In 1995, a complete, unexpurgated version of the diary was published.
INTIMAN will produce the original stage adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank, which received the 1956 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
